Slow to Anger Doesn’t Mean “Never Angry”

Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Be brave and upright that God may love thee.
Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death.
Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.
That is your oath
.

I’m not actually so much interested in the authenticity of this oath and whether or not it was actually an oath utilized by the Knights Templar.  What I do care about is the sentiment and principle of the oath as it stands now.  It seems that every day we have some new splinter group or upstart out in the streets holding forth on what they believe to be the great injustices of our time and letting each of us know through shouted slogans and smashed property what they think we should do about the situation.  At least that’s what the media tells us.  The truth about these mobs is that what they really want is to scream their heads off, destroy public and private property, and generally wreak havoc in the streets as a way of flipping off the establishment and letting everyone know that they’ll do exactly what they please and there’s not a single thing we can do about it.

It’s actually irrelevant whether the group is Antifa, BLM, the black panthers, the rainbow push coalition, green peace, the earth liberation front (elf), the neo-nazis, the white supremacists or any of dozens of other packs of disgruntled children the behavior, words and attitudes are all pretty much the same.  What I want to know is how they claim to shout in the name of equality, fairness, personal rights, etc. when they are exhibiting nothing but hatred, oppression, silencing of speech, and destruction of property.  I am here to tell you that you cannot propagate love while practicing hate.  You cannot bring justice while delivering injustice.  These groups are being disingenuous and intellectually dishonest at the very least and outright deceitful is more likely.  You cannot reap love and peace when all you sow is hatred and dissension.

In the course of the New American Crusade I call my brothers and sisters to meet disharmony with peace.  We will cast out hatred with the love of Christ and we will oppose the falsehood and vitriol of the great liar with the truth and instruction that is the word.

These things we know and these truths should guide us now:

This you know, my beloved brethren but everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, But the slow to anger calms a dispute. Proverbs 15:18

A man’s discretion makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression. Proverbs 19:11

Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.  Proverbs 29:11

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.  Ecclesiastes 7:9

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.  Proverbs 15:1

And lastly:

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.  Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Ephesians 4:26-31

Our victory in this war comes not in the strength of our arms but in the strength of our God.  We rely on his strength and we go forth knowing that the Lord our God will go before us.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”  Ephesians 6:12

Truth will carry the day and our fellow Americans will rally to the banner of truth rather than the deceit of our opponents.  We will pray and beseech the Lord on behalf of our land and we will do so unceasingly.  We will strive to keep the peace but we will not sit and watch as our nation, our neighborhoods and our way of life are all destroyed.  Be assured that we will also defend ourselves.

We will be “slow to anger” but if the time comes and our brethren refuse to resume the peaceful petition of grievances or cease in their lawless and destructive behavior there will come a time when our anger and our wrath will be justified.  We will not stand idly by while they destroy our churches or attack our homes.  We will not permit them to desecrate our history without answer.  No man need wonder if we will defend ourselves and protect our own for this is who we are.  There are members of these groups calling for murder, mayhem, and open revolution.  Emboldened by the lack of will on the part of progressive leadership in our cities and counties these packs of malcontents are actually working themselves up to open conflict.  I would say to the young people being pulled into these groups under the premise that they are speaking out for justice or fairness to please be aware of what you are doing.  Before you cross a line that cannot be uncrossed I beg of you to consider the path you are choosing and be mindful of the consequences you might have to suffer.

On the day that the kicking of tear gas or pepper spray cans and the burning of cars, breaking of windows or defecating in public turns into open and armed attacks on police or civilians in the name of your cause you will find new meaning and understanding in the words “For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind”. Hosea 8:7
